“What’s in a name?” (1.25.19)

The road to paradise,ย Patricia Bokowski, is made up of little steps, on a mostly dirt path, with earwigs and moss scattered about, guarded by a few armadillos and the occasional lonely pine, further beautified by a few wild dandelion flowers and dusty moths, within earshot of crickets that have no concept of when they should actually be chirping. But hey, we’re talking about the road to paradise. / The Universe / “What’s in a name?”

What’s in a name?

And, how to pick one for your business!

Say that again?

Pick a name for my business?

Is that really so important?

Actually, it is VERY important!

Why you might ask?

Because it’s the first thing.

People see when it comes.

To YOUR business!

And what should it be?

You may ask?

Something clever.

Something witty?

Something memorable?

Because that’s how people are going to find you!

And I know that sounds pretty simplistic.

I don’t think many business owners.

Realize that.

When picking a name for their business.

Before I picked the name for my business.

I read three books on marketing.

And they all said the same thing.

Your business name.

Is crucial to your businesses success!

So make it memorable!

It was 2011.

I was looking for a name.

For my new business.

I already had a few names in mind.

(needless to say, those didn’t work out).

And then this happened!

Fate + opportunity meet = NineFrogs

What’s in a name?

Here is a perfect example.

Of what I’m talking about.

Let’s say this is the name.

Of Bob’s new business.

That is one long name.

If I were Bob.

I’d make it much simpler.

Has a much better ring to it.

It’s a name people will remember.

That is what you want.

A name that people will remember.

You want a cool name.

So people can find you.

Like easily.

Don’t make them work for it.

What’s in a name?

Here’s another mistake.

Bob made with that very long business name.

And he’s not alone, trust me.

I see business owners.

Who do this all the time!

Now, he’s not even being consistent.

With his business name.

He opens an account on IG.

And this is the name if uses:

BobbysTireandRescue ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Notice the difference?

It’s an entirely different name!

Don’t do that!

You need to be consistent.

With your business name.

If you are looking for NineFrogs.

My website?

My blog?

Spelled just like that.

What’s in a name?

Is your business name on Google?

Do you have a business page on LinkedIn?

Are you making it easy for people to find you?

Can people find your business on Instagram?

You might want to ask.

Someone you know.

To check for you.

This just happened to me recently.

I met a girl who was selling jewelry.

When I asked what her business was called?

She gave me a pamphlet with her business name on it.

And, she asked me if I would follow her on Instagram.

I told her, ‘of course’.

Went home.

Went on Instagram.

Couldn’t find her account?

Then I remembered.

That she told me she had an Etsy account.

So I went on Etsy.

And found her there.

Under a different name there as well.

So, she basically has her business name.

Three different ways.

DON’T DO THAT!๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

What’s in a name?

What feeling do people get?

When they hear your business name?

Does it make them happy?

Do they think good thoughts?

Because, that’s really important.

That’s your calling card!

So, you want to make sure.

People have good feelings about it.

What’s in a name?

So, I’ll give you the quick version.

Of how.

I came up with my business name.

Here it is:

FROGS are lucky in Feng Shui ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ

Angel Number 9 – The Number of Universal Love

I’ve always been into numerology.

And how numbers affect our lives.

One Frog, two frogs…NineFrogs! ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ

So began the Magic of NineFrogs โœจโœจโœจ

I knew the moment it said AVAILABLE.

That was it.

And what did I do then?

I marketed the sh*t out of it.

And that’s what you need to do to.

Like I keep saying.

Make it easy for you.

And the people trying to find you.

Here’s another pet-peeve I have.

The email address for your business.

Mine, simple: pattib@ninefrogs.com.

FYI, you really should have.

An email address.

With your business name.

In it.

NOT a g-mail account.

Just saying.

Give it some thought.

And when it comes to business cards:

  1. Make sure everything on it is legible.
  2. Not in some microscopic print that you need a magnifying glass to read.
  3. For the love of God, do not pick some long asf name like:

Instead try something like:

See the difference?

The end game.

Is making it as easy as possible.

For people to reach you.

Find you, and most importantly,

Do business with you!โœ”โœ”โœ”
