What would you do?
I don’t think we are ever.
Really prepared for something unexpected.
If we’re honest.
We just hope.
That we do our best when it happens.
For me.
I had two incidents.
Both over this past year.
That I totally did not see coming.
And I have to say.
I handled it like a champ.
Because I read somewhere.
That if an opportunity comes to you.
TAKE IT!👈👈👈
And.
Do the best you can!
Opportunity #1.
I was invited to a networking event with a group I had never met before.
As I walked in.
I was greeted very warmly by the group.
And soon got to meet everyone in the room.
Then to my surprise.
I was asked if I wanted to be interviewed.
On camera no less.
My first thought was.
“OMG, how do I look”.
My second thought.
“AM I ready for this?”
and my third was.
“Of course can I do this!
I should add.
Not only was I being interviewed.
But in Spanish.
And I don’t speak Spanish.
But like I said.
When opportunity knocks.
You better answer!
Next thing I knew.
I was standing in front of the camera being interviewed.
It was truly a wonderful experience.
Yeah me! “How do I know?” (5.13.2021)
Opportunity #2.
This was about a year after Opportunity #1.
I was invited to a taping of a show in the Bronx with some friends.
It was summertime.
And it was one of those really hot summer days.
Like really hot.
I remember I took a nap.
And woke up literally about ten minutes before I had to leave.
I threw on my clothes and was out the door.
On the drive over to my friends house.
I fixed my make-up so that I looked presentable.
But, quite honestly.
I figured.
Hey, it’s hot as hell out.
And, I don’t know where we’re going.
So, who cares.
Only.
Low and behold.
If you can believe it.
It turns out.
I knew the host of the show.
(If I didn’t mention it. We were going to a taping in the Bronx).
The Host was one of my FaceBook friends.
You know.
The kind you’ve never actually meet.
(And there’s a whole story behind that one as well.)
I had no idea it was his show!
As soon as I got there.
And we saw each other.
It was crazy funny.
Both of us so happy to actually meet in person.
So imagine my surprise.
When I was asked to be interviewed on camera.
That night no less!
Now.
I should add.
It was yet another show in Spanish.
And once again.
I don’t speak Spanish.
Plus, I truly didn’t feel camera ready.
As I said.
It was HOT out that day.
And I did not feel I was looking camera ready.
Only the interviewer (Bianca).
Assured me I looked great.
And that all would go well.
And so I agreed.
She was right.
It did go well.
And I was happy with myself that I decided to do it.
So what did I learn from these two experiences?
That in order to grow.
You have to get out of your comfort zone.
As uncomfortable as that is.
Basically.
You need to be comfortable.
With being uncomfortable.
As was this case with both of these opportunities.
Otherwise.
You will never know what you’re capable of.
Which is usually a whole lot more than you think.
Here’s another lesson I learned.
To look your best always whenever possible.👈👈👈
Seriously.
Because you never know.
When a golden opportunity might appear.
Twenty seconds.
Of insane courage.
Is what it took in both of these instances.
I’m proud of myself.
That I had the courage to say to both.
And I truly hope.
That if an opportunity.
Comes your way.
One that scares the hell out of you.
You jump on it!
Feet first!
Leap.
Jump.
Grab it by the balls.
Seriously!
Have a ‘take-no-prisoners’ kind of attitude!👈👈👈
Because that’s how you win at LIFE!
Remember.
I believe in YOU👈👈👈
And mostly.
It’s me again!
Oh, and did I tell you.
About the time.
I went for an unexpected ride on the blimp?
What would you do?
