Watch out!
Seriously.
Watch out.
Watch me kick a**.
Watch me make my dreams come true.
Or as I like to say.
Expect the unexpected!
Or, like I say to my clients.
Keep your mind open.
To new adventures everyday.
Because you never know.
When one is about to happen!
So, this story.
Happened quite a few years ago.
And I was offered an opportunity.
To take a ride on the Good Year Blimp.
Now let me set this up for you.
This was back.
When I was working.
In Cablevision’s Flight Department.
This was WAY WAY before.
All the sh*t that went down.
That I wrote the book about.
“How One Landscaping Bill Changed Everything!”
I should add.
I was scared to death to fly.
I think that’s called an oxymoron.
And I mean to fly in anything.
A plane, a helicopter.
And needless to say.
A freakin blimp would jump to #1!
But my offer was limited.
I literally had 30 seconds.
To say yes or no.
Or my offer expired.
I was fortunate enough.
To have my friend.
The one offering me the opportunity.
Who said, “You’re going!”
And Sean will be there.
In five minutes to pick you up.
I remember my whole body.
Starting to shake.
And all I could think was.
“What the hell did I just get myself into?”
And before I knew it.
Sean was there to pick me up.
And whisked me away to the “blimp”.
We were there in a nano second.
Have you ever seen a blimp up close?
If not.
Let me tell you.
They are HUGE!
As I got out of the car.
I was mesmerized.
By the sheer size of the blimp.
And my anxiety?
Oh yeah.
It was kicking in big time.
Like my heart.
Was beating out my chest.
Or, it certainly felt like that
And then this thought.
Crossed my mind.
In a hot second.
How the hell do you get in it?
Side note.
Things you should know.
Before you get on a blimp.
When the blimp is in town.
So to speak.
People schedule appointments.
To get a ride,
Meaning, they “dress” for the occasion.
Because you don’t just “walk” onto a blimp.
It’s a “thing”.
Which I will later explain.
Anyway, that particular day.
I had on a long black sundress.
With 4″ heels.
Not quite the appropriate.
Attire one wears.
For riding in a blimp!
I so wish I had a picture of me that day.
Totally inappropriate outfit.
For taking a ride.
On a blimp!
So yes.
You could say.
I stood out from the crowd.
There I am.
In line.
Waiting for my turn.
To get in the blimp.
Anxiety beating through my entire body.
I kept telling myself.
I cannot believe I am doing this.
I can still say no if I want to.
But I don’t want to.
I am petrified, yet excited beyond belief.
I’m doing this, for real!
And now it’s my turn.
There’s a guy holding the rope.
Yes, that’s how they keep it on the ground.
Looks at me.
Sizes me up.
As if to say.
“Lady didn’t you know.
You were going on the blimp today.
And you are totally not dressed.
Properly!”
I know that’s exactly what he’s thinking.
So I explain to him.
That I literally just got this offer.
Not 15 minutes ago.
And that’s why.
I am not dressed properly.
For the occasion.
He shrugged his shoulders.
And says, “ok, when I say go.
You run to the blimp.
And jump on.”
Because THAT is how you get on a blimp!
You run and jump on!
And on I went.
Me and my long black dress.
And 4″ heels and all!
To say I must have looked.
Like quite the vision.
Would be an understatement.
So, how was the ride?
My answer:
Fabulous!
Wonderful!
Fantastic!
It was truly.
One of the most thrilling.
Experiences of my life.
I was absolutely mesmerized.
It was like floating.
In a huge mini-van.
With no windows.
Because it’s open.
It truly felt like we were floating on air.
Did you see it?
Now think?
Did I ever think.
In a million years.
That when I walked into work.
That morning.
That I would be receiving.
A phone call asking me.
If I wanted to take a ride on a blimp?
Never in a million years.
And yet I did.
That’s the thing about life.
You never know.
When a golden opportunity.
Is going to come your way.
Like, what makes you think.
Something amazing.
And far-reaching.
Can’t happen to you today?
Just because you can’t see it.
Doesn’t mean it can’t happen.
Miracles happen everyday.
You just have to keep your eyes.
And mind open to everything.
As I often advise my clients:
Keep your:
Eyes.
Mind.
Body.
And soul.
Open to every new experience.
For you never know.
Which one will change your life.
That trip on the blimp.
Changed mine.
It showed me that:
You never know.
What can happen.
In a nano-second!
That I can overcome my fears.
And do things.
That scare the sh*t.
Out of me.
That I can soar to new heights!
Literally!
Seriously.
Just because you can’t see it!
Doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
Watch out!
