Often, Patricia Bokowski, having what you want is a function of letting go of what you have.

Odd, huh, Patricia Bokowski, the stuff some folks cling to?

Just a quick story I wanted to share.
A few years ago.
My son, frantic, came crashing into my office.
Seems, the screen on his phone froze.
Time: late morning.
A little personal history here.
I worked at Cablevision for 26 years.
And, if there is one thing I learned over all those years.
If something doesn’t work.
Unplug it and reboot it.
We did that for everything at Cablevision.👈👈👈
So, that’s what I did for my son’s phone.
We did it at least 10 times.
We decide to hit up the Verizon store.
When we got there, we sit down with the guy.
Explain our problem.
He takes the phone, pushes a bunch of buttons.
And then says exactly what I knew he was going to say.
The phone was too old.
And he needed a new one.
So we left.
Because that is NOT the answer we were looking for!
Next up: BestBuy.
Found ourselves another guy.
Told him our story.
He pushed a bunch of buttons (like we did).
Then proceeded to tell us we needed a new phone.
That phones are not meant to last more than a year or two.
Stock answer for any phone problems.
These guys must learn that day one.
By this time.
We were both frustrated and annoyed.
So we went home.
Still with a phone with a frozen screen.
And I should add, one unhappy son.
I should add.
By this time, (in my head).
I have already determined that I am going to get this phone working.
Now, I’m no technical person by any means.
But I just knew I could get that phone working.
We arrived home..
Took a lunch break.
And started brainstorming in my head.
Last ditch effort.
Repeat of the past two guys.
He told us to punch a whole bunch of buttons (like we did before).
Then proceeded to tell us that cell phones aren’t built to last more than a year or two?
And I have to tell you.
While all this was going on.
There was this little voice in my head that kept saying, ‘you can fix this.’
By this point, my is starting to lose his sh*t.
So, I told my him to leave the phone with me.
Let me work on it.
I can’t tell you exactly what I did.
It was a combination of turning it off and on.
Taking the battery out.
Turning the power off.
And God knows what else I did.
But, low and behold, 45 minutes later.
I FIXED the phone👈👈👈
The frozen screen was gone.👈👈👈
And all was right with the world!
Well, it our little world at least.
So why am I sharing this story with you today?
Because, most people are so quick to give up.
The minute something becomes too hard.
And then they wonder why they are unhappy with their mediocre life.
Because they wouldn’t try a little harder at something.
Maybe a new career?
All because it got too hard!
So, if you find yourself in a position of wanting to give up.
With whatever you’re doing.
Do you know how many times I’ve started over in my business.
And it’s ok.
