“Who wants to be a blogger?” (12.11.2020)

Patricia Bokowski, a thought on the “hows”:
Just because you’re not to mess with them doesn’t mean you’re not to get busy doing all you can, with what you’ve got, from where you are.
The difference is in how you see what you do: you don’t do all you can with an eye to hitting a home run, but with an understanding that for each door you knock upon and every stone you turn over, you’re pitching the ball to me.
The more balls you pitch, the greater my options, and the farther the balls will sail.

Who wants to be a blogger?

Today.

We’re talking about blogging.

In case you didn’t know.

It’s a great way to brand your business.

I have been blogging for 5+ years now.

And over the years.

I have spoken with countless people.

Who have asked me.

What does it take to be a blogger?

And, do I think they have what it takes.

To be one?

Like.

Do you need to be a writer to be a blogger?

You don’t.

And.

Can only certain professions blog?

Not at all.

So, I have BIG news to share!

I recently opened a shop on Amazon.

As many of my clients are still reluctant to go out shopping.

I decided to bring my favorite fashion finds to everyone.

Take a look: https://www.amazon.com/shop/ninefrogs

Full disclosure, I make a commission.

New items added daily.

Thank you for shopping with NineFrogs!

One thing I will say.

To be an amazing blogger?

You need to be passionate about what you write about.

Because, if you look at it like a chore.

Like, something you HAVE to do.

You’re not going to be very successful.

Also, you won’t be getting paid.

I’ll be you didn’t realize that?

Yes, not initially.

So, another reason.

You better LOVE the f*ck!

Out of what you write about!

First up.

The technical side of things.

Of which.

I am not technical.

But, I can tell you this.

My blog is on my WordPress website.

But I know.

There are a lot of other ways to have a blog.

You can Google it.

Or.

Better yet.

If you have an IT guy.

I am sure they can set one up for you.

My friend Wendy set mine up for me.

And I have to say.

It couldn’t be easier.

Again.

I’m not a technical person.

And even I am able to figure out how to use it.

So the question?

Do you have to be a writer?

No.

But, you do have to have something to say!

People write all kinds of different blogs.

Educational.

Funny.

Inspirational.

Motivational.

How-to.

Technical.

Parenting.

Gardening.

Etc.

My personal experience is.

To write about what you like.

Or, have a passion for.

And then share THAT with your audience.

Take myself as an example.

I was no writer.

When I first started blogging in 2015.

I hadn’t written a thing since 2008.

When I had taken.

A Dale Carnegie class on Leadership Management.

A course by-the-way.

That changed my life.

That’s where I learned how to properly do Public Speaking.

But that’s a blog for another day.

But I will share this:

Quick story about that class.

It was an eight week course.

And the last class, as a surprise.

They told us we had 15 minutes to write a speech.

A speech on everything.

We had learned over the previous seven weeks.

We would give our speech.

And, the winner would get a prize!

So, everyone gave their speech.

And I won!

YES!

No one was more surprised than me!

And what was my speech about?

How one day I am going to be a Successful Motivational Speaker.

And, that I would invite everyone in the class.

To my first PAID speaking engagement for free!

Everyone loved that idea <3

And my prize.

A Dale Carnegie paperweight.

Side Note:

If you ever get an opportunity.

To take a Dale Carnegie class.

Take it!

Like I said, life-changing for me!

Which in a weird way.

Helped me when it came to blogging.

I learned how to speak better.

Which in turn, made me better at blogging.

But still.

I look back at some of my early blogs.

And think ‘what was I thinking’?

But, as I’ve said a million f*cking times.

You will NEVER get to be good at something until you start!

The thing about writing.

You can literally write about ANYTHING you want.

It’s all about how you put your words together.

And the message you want your audience to receive.

What emotions, if any, do you want them to feel?

Or, what did you want them to learn?

Patricia D. Bokowski – CEO & Founder – NineFrogs

As for me.

I am a Fashion/LifeStyle Blogger.

And as such.

I have seen which blogs have become fan favorites.

Here are a few:

Blogs such as www.ninefrogs/com/howtohaveahappyday was one of my most popular blogs.

Also, www.ninefrogs.com/lifelessonsfromwinniethepooh because who knew so many people love Winnie-the-Pooh.

And then there was www.ninefrogs.com/9thoughtprovokingquotestosetyoursoulonfire to name a few!

BTW – I literally just figured out how to do that hyper-link?☝☝☝

It’s like anything else.

You start.

You write.

See what you like.

See what people like.

Write more of that.

Just in hundred different ways.

With different feelings.

Different thoughts.

It’s like people who write those Hallmark movies.

You always know it’s going to end on a good note.

And you also know.

There’s going to be a bit of drama in the middle.

They have that formula down to a science.

Same with blogging👈👈👈

Here’s something else I’ve learned along the way.

Let your audience know you.

Tell your story in your blogs.

And I don’t care what your blog is about.👈👈👈

Somewhere in there.

You have to let your audience.

Know how the blog relates to you.

Whether it is a story about your life.

That you can relate to.

Or.

Your opinion.

Because.

Never forget.

Your audience.

Wants to know YOUR opinion.👈👈👈

YOUR feelings on the subject matter.

Here is something.

You need to understand.

You’re not inventing the wheel.

Pretty much everything.

Has been written about.

So, your job.

Is to write in such a way.

That your audience has not heard.

Think about this?

How many people write blogs on ‘How to have a happy day?’

PLENTY!

The difference is.

I write mine from MY perspective.

So if you wrote one.

You would write it.

How YOU THINK someone could have a happy day!

Only don’t do that.

Because writing blogs on How to Have a Happy Day is MY thing!

Another important thing about blogging.

Make it genuine.

Don’t copy other people.

I NEVER read blogs.

Ever.

Because I don’t want.

To be influenced.

By others.

I want everything I write.

To be my own!

Here’s how you can start a blog.

Let’s say your business is accounting..

But your passion is football.

And maybe it’s one particular team you love.

Blog about that.

I think I can pretty much guarantee you.

There is an audience.

For just about every subject matter.

Just remember.

It doesn’t necessarily matter WHAT you write about.

It’s HOW you write it!

That’s super-important!

How many people watched Breaking Bad?

I know I did.

I was a huge fan.👈👈👈

Just like Game of Thrones.

LOVED that show too.

But.

I know a lot of people who didn’t watch either.

So, why are I bringing that up?

Because, the same goes for your blogging.👈👈👈

Don’t write so that EVERYBODY will love it.

YOU ARE NOT VANILLA.

Write about what YOU like.👈👈👈

In your own PERSONAL style.

Whatever that may be.

Personally.

I’ve developed mine over time.

I saw what I liked, what I didn’t.

Subjects that I wrote about in the beginning.

That I don’t write about any more.

It’s a process, like anything else.

But here’s the thing. NineFrogs “Quote of the Day”!

You have to start.👈👈👈

I promise you.

You will NEVER get really good at it.

Until you do!

Remember that!
