“How did you hear about us?” (12.19.19)

Never has there been a moment in your life, Patricia Bokowski, that wasn’t also a moment in mine.
Never have you laughed without me, cried alone, or loved in vain.
And never have you dreamed a dream, that destiny had not ordained.

“Stop asking people who have never been where you are going for directions.” – NineFrogs

How did you hear about us?

I want to know 😉

Today’s blog.

All about.

Say please and thank you.

Two of the best things you can ever say!

Want people to love you?

Start saying please and thank you ALL THE TIME👈👈👈

Like, make it part of your everyday life👉👉👉

From the time my boys were very young.

I always impressed upon them how good manners mattered greatly in life.

Sure, being smart is great!

Getting a good education too.👈👈👈

But, being smart and having a good education.

And NOT having good manners.

You won’t get far.

Trust me!

But.

Having good manners.

Getting a good education.

And being SMART. NineFrogs Daily:

Now that’s a winning combination✈✈✈

As for my boys and me.

We might curse like sailors, but we are polite as hell👈👈👈

I mean really, how hard is it to say thank you?👈👈👈

Or please?

And hold a door open for someone?

Bad habits on my list include:

gum chewing.

smoking.

A big yuck to both of them!

But let’s get back to the please and thank you part👈👈👈

Many interviewers check for good manners.✔✔✔

They want to see how well you will get along with your prospective fellow workers.👈👈👈

You may be smart as a whip.

But have absolutely no manners.😳😳😳

I mean really, who wants to work with some rude jerk?

No one🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️

Years ago I heard a story.

A business owner was interviewing for a high-level position in his company.

He was meeting a prospective candidate at the diner to interview him.

As they sat at the table.

The waitress came over to take their order.

The man who was doing the interviewing wasn’t happy already.

He couldn’t help but notice how rude the man was being to the waitress.

This continued throughout their meal, and the man (interviewer) said nothing.

When breakfast was over they walked outside.

The man who was being interviewed asked the man what he thought his chances were of getting the position?🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The man paused for a few seconds and said:

‘I’m sorry, after the way I saw you treat that waitress, I don’t see how I could have you working with my people or me!”

I’d bet that man never got it.

Say please and thank TO EVERYONE👈👈👈

“Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what fork you use.” / Emily Post

I know most people don’t think of it that way,.

But it really does show respect.

Like, would you show up to a friends wedding reception in a t-shirt in jeans?

Likely your answer is no.

You would be dressed in something nice.

Dressed to celebrate the occasion❤❤❤

Well, it’s the same thing when people don’t dress appropriately for the occasion.

Dress sloppy.

And people will treat you as such. http://www.ninefrogs.com

As I have talked about before in my blogs.

I am a real people watcher.

Like whenever I go to my local 7-11 (at least 3 times a day).

I am in shock sometimes of the way people dress 🙄🙄🙄

And here’s the thing.

Some people will complain that they don’t receive good customer service!

I hate to say it.

But when you show up looking like sh*t.

And not saying please or thank you.

You probably wont.

But.

When you present yourself in the right light.

You are pretty much guaranteed RESPECT!

So, don’t be THAT person👈👈👈

Other things you can do to improve your good manners are:

Making eye contact with whoever you are speaking with.

Shaking hands with a sturdy handshake👋👋👋

Being on-time✔✔✔

Not checking your cell phone when you are speaking with someone.

So, so rude!!!😠😠😠

And of course, you know I have to say it, smile 😉

That’s just a sprinkling of ideas👍👍👍

So.

Why are good manners important in your social/business life?

Because they are a clear reflection of you.

And the impression you leave on others👈👈👈

Now, think about that?

Do you know what kind of impression you are leaving on others?

Are people happy to see you?

Or, are they not?

And, by the way.

You can always tell!

So there you have it!

I was just commenting on a post today on LinkedIn on this very subject.

Making a great first impression encompasses many attributes!

And most definitely.

Having excellent good manners is one of them!

Because.

Nobody wants to deal with people who have none!👈👈👈

Say PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
