What if, Patricia Bokowski, happiness didn’t have anything to do with what you have, what you do, or even where you’re headed, and arose entirely from what you chose to think about, yet nobody knew this?
And what if changing your thoughts, so that you could feel happier more often, would entirely change what you have, what you do, or even where you’re headed, yet nobody knew this either?
Do you think if we told them they’d choose to think differently every single time they ever felt sad or angry or powerless?

Have you heard that happiness is the new luxury?
They talk about a lot on LinkedIn.
Seems many people just can’t find their happiness.
No matter what.
Let’s be honest.
That’s really not a secret.
Then you add in a pandemic.
It’s the perfect combination for people to be miserable.
I love when people come up to me and say.
“How can you be so happy?”
Yes, I’ve had that happen on several occasions.
To which I want to say to them.
“How can you be so miserable?”👈👈👈
Today I’m sharing some tips on finding your ‘happy’.
Just in case you lost yours.
Or, you want to hear a couple of funny stories!
Funny story #1
This happened this past fall.
I was sitting in my car in a parking lot (my son was in getting his hair cut).
I had the window open as it was a beautiful day.
And I notice a lady pushing her cart up to her car.
Which was about five spots away from where I was parked.
I looked over at her and smiled 🙂
Obviously, I didn’t have my mask on because I was sitting in my car.
She just kind of looked over at me, and then proceeded to put her groceries in her car.
So I was like, ok, so much for that.🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
And continued scrolling on my phone.
A few seconds later I hear, ‘Hey”.
I look over, and the lady has her mask off and a big smile on her face.
And then she said.
“I want you to know I was smiling back.”.
I looked back at her and said.
‘You just made my day.”🤗🤗🤗
And she looked at me and said;
“You just made mine”.
Moral of the story.
Funny story #2
If you’ve been reading my blogs, you know.
I am a big fan of 7-11.👈👈👈
I’m there, like, all the time.
This story happened over the winter.
So, I go in one day to make a cup of tea.
And there’s a man there.
At the coffee station.
I’d never seen him before.
But he looked nice enough.
He looks over at me, and says ‘How are you doing today’?
I answer back; ‘great’.
No big deal.
He walks away.
Says, “have a great day.”
About a week or so later.
I’m in 7-11 making a cup of tea.
Now he walks in.👈👈👈
Takes one look at me and says “you again”.
We both laugh.
Exchange a few pleasantries.
And off I go.
A few days later, on a whim.
I decide to get a cup of tea.
It was one of those really cold winter days.
As I’m walking in, I see the guys truck on the side of 7-11.
And now I’m laughing to myself.
Because I can only imagine what he’s going to say when he seems me.
I walk in, he’s standing right there at the coffee station.
Takes one look at me and says:
“Are you stalking me?”👈👈👈
We both had a good laugh over the whole thing.
Moral of the story.
People still want to connect.
Pandemic or not.
Want to be happy?
Make someone else happy.👈👈👈
We’ve all heard the phrase, ‘comparison is the thief of joy”.
So, stop comparing yourself to others.
It’s a complete waste of time.
You are uniquely YOU.
And your path is your’s to create.
Find your happiness in the things that make YOU happy👈👈👈
Ok, so this is a personal one for me.
Want to feel HAPPY 🤗🤗🤗
Even if it’s just chapstick.
I know my pink lipstick makes me happy 😉
A little lipstick does a body good!
And although there’s no scientific proof.
I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to be unhappy wearing lipstick 🙂
ALL. OF. IT.👈👈👈
If there is one thing this pandemic has shown us.
You can never tell what life will throw at you.
So, let go of all the things that weigh you down.👈👈👈
Think about all the things that you worry about.
You know, those little things that float around in your head.
Let. It. Go.
Same goes for the sh*t around your house.
Things that have just been taking up space.
It’s almost Spring.
Perfect time to start your Spring cleaning.👈👈👈
Get ride of everything that doesn’t make you happy.
Donate all your stuff to your favorite charity.
That alone will make you happy.
That’s what you call a win/win👈👈👈
Don’t be afraid to take risks.
Get out of your comfort zone.
That’s where the magic truly happens.
It’s like when people complain to me that their life is so boring!
I ask them what are they doing about that?
And the answer is usually “nothing”.🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Stick with the people who make you feel like sunshine!👈👈👈
You know what I mean.
If the people in your circle aren’t clapping for you when you get a win.
It’s time to find a new circle.
I don’t care if it’s your grandmother, better half or a tree.
Everyone needs it.
Especially these days.
Yes, I know it’s different.
True story #3👈👈👈
Went to Home Depot a couple of weeks ago.
My friend Anne is a cashier there.
So, as she was checking me out, we had the opportunity to chat for a few minutes.
Then we said our goodbyes.
And just as I was ready to walk out the door.
Anne called out “Patti, this is for you!”
And there she was.
Throwing me a big air hug in the middle of Home Depot.
We all still need that human connection.
No matter how we have to get it <3
I know there will be people who will read this blog.
And say, ‘sorry Patti, none of those things work for me’.
And then wonder.
Why they’re not happy.
Happiness is a choice.
